LOCATION AND MANUFACTURING FACILITY Damar is based in Rotorua. In October 2002, Damar relocated to our new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility on a 3-hectare site within the Eastgate Business Park opposite to Rotorua Airport. This greenfield opportunity enabled us to design a complex we believe has set new standards for manufacturing in Australasia. In preparation, we visited many of our American technology partners’ factories and incorporated key ideas into our own buildings. Features include full viewing galleries which allow our customers to view production plants in action, as well as showcase our commitment to ongoing quality and product development. Stage One, an investment of some 7.5 million dollars, completes a 8,500 sq.mt facility (92,000 sq.ft), with further expansion opportunities to 16,000 sq.mt (170,000 sq ft). This stage has included full manufacturing capabilities, aerosol operations, large laboratory facilities, office complex, and large scale warehousing buildings allowing all materials handling to occur under cover. The entire facility has been built to Dangerous Goods specification and is built in modules, allowing for each module to be internally bunded. The manufacturing areas are fire-sprinklered, and all other areas equipped with smoke detection linked to automatically-closing fire-doors to isolate each module. Furthermore the site itself is bunded, including landscaped earth-mounds and ramped entranceways and roadways. In March 2005, Damar Industries purchased Aerosol Products Ltd, making Damar the 4th largest Aerosol filler in Australasia. The stage two expansion includes a new aerosol filling facility, a new warehouse and a dedicated liquid filling plant. In August 2005, the Andrew Chemicals solvent business and PoolPride Pool Care Chemicals business was purchased from Andrew Group. This has expanded Damar's focus into Consumer and Retail markets and has set a new platform to launch further business growth. |
