Damar's consumer brand, ANDREW is proud to be supporting Clubsport motor racing driver, Lloyd Wilson. Lloyd races in the NZ Sports Car Series, which is run over 7 rounds at all of the North Island race tracks. The Clubsport category is predominantly clubman-type cars such as Lotus 7, Caterham, Fraser and Chevron and is very even and fiercely contested. Lloyds latest reportIt’d hard to believe that the season is 75% completed, it’s been a lot of fun. Heading into the Pukekohe round last weekend we were not only leading our Clubsport class, but also the overall NZ Sport Car Series, thanks to our wonderfully reliable Andrew Chemicals Fraser. There are a lot of faster cars in the other classes, but consistency has paid off, as it did last year, and we’ve picked up points from every race this season. Pukekohe was fantastic. Chris MacLennan has his Fraser really motoring now, and we had some great battles in all three races, with honours pretty well shared. I took 2 wins and Chris won the other race. A number of spectators have commented since on the excitement they had watching the two Frasers side-by-side for lap after lap, and all I can say is that it was even more fun from inside the car. On the last lap of the last race we went together all the way from the hairpin, over the hill, and down to the finish flag, with a winning margin of 0.18 seconds! So we came away from Round 6 with a handy lead in the Clubsport class, and a slender lead in the overall championship, since the big boys got the lion’s share of points on the weekend. March 6 and 7 sees us at Manfeild for the Thunder in the Dark meeting and we’d love to see as any of our supporters there as possible. The racing is fast, furious and close, fabulous from the cockpit and, I’m told, great spectator viewing. The championship season closes with Round 8 at Taupo over Easter weekend, so hopefully we’ll catch you there. The Andrew Chemicals Fraser is pushing to make it three championships in consecutive seasons, but the competition is tough, and every bit of support is appreciated. | 2009 Season Trophies
